Word from the Principal
Kia ora, Talofa Lava, Welcome.
I hope that the upcoming holidays provide a time for you to enjoy some quality family time. Thank you once again for your support over the term in the vast amount of activities that have occurred around the school.
Sadly we have to farewell our amazing reading specialist teacher, Yvonne Russell, after an incredible career of over 52 years. Please note the section that follows later in the newsletter.
In 2019 I was awarded a Sabbatical to study Leadership and School Culture. I was unable to complete it in 2020 due to COVID so it is my plan and hope to finish it and therefore my study report at the start of Term 3.
Please be aware of the RSV virus outbreak that has hit the country particularly hard recently. Please take care of your family and be aware of the symptoms and processes for this illness. As usual please do not send the children to school if they are unwell as the virus is very contagious
I know I mentioned something similar in the last newsletter but I do often receive positive feedback on our school from multiple areas. Last week I got an email from a past Principal that does a lot of work around schools and also spends quite a bit of time here at Bromley. His words were so encouraging to me and I would like to encourage you all with a small paragraph from the email .
What do I notice! The children are much happier, much more communicative and they find it relatively easy to talk with adults. I notice the laughter in the playground and the smiles that the children happily offer as they pass you in the playground. I find the teachers and ancillary staff are less stressed and therefore more friendly and engaging. I notice the very impressive group of people working at the school. Your parents appear to be more part of the school now and I have noticed a willingness from them to help out when needed.
What you do as parents is so significant, noticed and appreciated, thank you.
Please take care of yourselves over the school holidays and look after your loved ones.
Scot Kinley
