A Word from the Principal

Tim Kunowski —

Kia Ora, Talofa Lava, Welcome.

There has been a noticeable change in the seasons as the days seem to be much shorter as we move into Autumn.

Yesterday, staff and students enjoyed walking and wheeling to school. Most managed to arrive just before the rain hit!

As I have mentioned many times before, safety in and around the school is always at the forefront of our thinking.

Before teachers go on trips, RAMS (Risk Analysis Management) are completed to ensure they have considered and planned for any potential areas where children may get hurt.

There are Duty teachers during breaks, First Aid training for staff, playground inspections etc, the list is very long to try and limit any danger to children.

A significant area in schools across NZ continues to be the intensity of traffic and children at the end of the day.

We are so fortunate to have Steve running the main Road Patrol on Keighleys Road every morning and night and he has done so for many years, rain or shine. Thank you Steve!!

An area of concern for us is the small number of children who cross the road on Kawau Cres just next to the Kindy.

We have staffed this area over the years but currently are finding it difficult to get staff out of their duties and to the crossing in time.

My request is for any parents that may be able to help us from 3 pm - 3.15 on any night after school to supervise the safe crossing for our children.

If you can help us, please fill out this form and we will try to sort a roster.

Thank you again for your continued support.
