Koru 1's Trip to the Airforce Museum

Patience Devine —

On Tuesday the 2nd of June Koru 1 went to the Airforce Museum to explore flight. When we first got to school we put our iPads pencil cases and jackets in our school bags but we had to make sure that we had our iPads in a separate pocket to our drink bottles.

Once we got to the Airforce Museum we were introduced to a person named Chris and he took us into the museum he showed us where we could put our bags. Everyone really liked his Classroom mainly because it was shaped and looked like an Airplane.

Once everyone had a seat Chris put a slide show on and started to explain about all these different people who have made history trying to make an airplane. A lot of the planes he mentioned were fails like one didn’t even carry a person to fly it so it’s kind of a drone then there was the one that could fit a person but it could only fly 20cm off of the ground which isn’t even that high and so you can’t really classify that as flying.

Something that I think a lot of us really liked was when we made model planes. Chris gave us a example on how to make them and then Quade's dad handed out sharpies to write our name on the planes with.

Something else we did that was pretty fun was the scavenger hunt what we had to do was go around the museum answering all the questions.

Something everyone really enjoyed was when Chris took us into where they store all the aircraft that are too big to put into the museum and we got to go into one of the planes all together as a class and then Chris played some audio that sounded like the plane was actually starting then it said that we needed to jump out so that’s what we did and there was blue mats out so we wouldn’t hurt ourselves when we jumped. After that we got to press buttons and sit in a helicopter and go around taking pictures.

It was a great day.
