A place where stocks of food, typically basic provisions and non-perishable items, are supplied free of charge or a small donation.

· Catholic Social Services, 336 Cashel Street, Christchurch, Call 03 379 0012. Food bank open Monday to Friday, 10.30am-12.30pm. (ID and letter from WINZ is needed)

· Christchurch City Mission, 276 Hereford Street, Christchurch, Call 03 365 0635. Foodbank open Monday to Friday 9-1230pm.

· New Brighton Community Fridge, Te Waka Aroha, St Faiths, Hawke Street, New Brighton, Christchurch. Community Fridge, with free food. Open 7-7pm Monday to Friday.

· Salvation Army Aranui, 34 Portsmouth Street, Wainoni, Christchurch. Call (03) 388 1072. Foodbank open Monday and Wednesday 10-12pm.

· Salvation Army Linwood, 177 Linwood Avenue, Linwood, Christchurch. Call (03) 389 3723. Foodbank open Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 3.20 pm, appointments only.

· St Ambrose Drop In Café & Foodbank, 309 Breezes Road, Aranui, Christchurch. Call (03) 388 6699. Foodbank is open Tuesdays 10-12pm.

· St Vincent de Paul, Call 03 389 7484 ext. 1. St Vincent De Paul can also receive texts (no calls) to 027 3589400. Food is delivered.

Vege Co Op

How it works. You pay around $12 at most places. This will get you a bag of fresh seasonal fruit (3-4 varieties) and veges (3-5 varieties), with an estimated retail value of $20. You pay a week in advance and then collect the following week.
