Old phone donation box

From the office —

This can be found in the office if you have an old phone to donate

Donate an old mobile phone – such a simple act that can help so much. The Mobile Phone Recycling Scheme has raised over $3 million for NZ charities thanks to the support of Businesses, Government Departments, Organisations and many thousands of individuals from all over NZ.

You too can help preserve our environment for generations to come

With 69% of New Zealand’s rivers deemed unsafe for swimming after rainfall due to contaminationand 77% of single use plastics being the worst offenders in the marine environment, the cleaning upof our water and beaches is important work for us to do for all to enjoy well into the future. Theproceeds from the mobile phone recycling scheme helps Sustainable Coastlines work towards thislong-term vision of beautiful beaches and healthy waters.Sustainable Coastlines is a young, multi award winning New Zealand charity run by a small team ofhard-working staff and a network of passionate volunteers and interns. Their mission is to inspire, educate and enable others to look after the natural places we love.

Rummage around for those unwanted mobile phones to donate

Phones received are graded, data wiped and sim/memory cards removed and destroyed. Phonesthat can still be used are sold by tender to off-shore businesses that specialise in the resale ofsecond-hand mobile phones. They are refurbished and sold as low-cost handsets to places likeAfrica and Asia. Phones that have reached their end of life are broken down and recycled in anenvironmentally friendly way with up-to 95% of their materials being recycled into other products.Regardless of condition, working or non-working, make or model all mobile phones are accepted bythe Mobile Phone Recycling Scheme.
