A Word from the Principal

Scot Kinley —

Kia Ora, Talofa Lava, Welcome.

I learnt a new word recently. That word is heuristics, I think that's how you spell it.

This may not be 100% accurate but my understanding is that it means that you can measure things that you can't measure, by seeing evidence of things in existence that would not be there if the thing you were trying to measure didn't exist??????

For example a healthy garden is evidence of the presence of the sun. So if you were trying to prove the existence of the sun, the mere fact that the garden is growing is evidence ( don't question me about green houses and no sun , this is an analogy and an average one at best.)

SO…..I can hear happy positive children. Laughing and playing happily in the playground. They are not huddled together and frightened

The classrooms are focussed and there is some quality work being produced.

This is evidence that the teachers are amazing-yes . The children are incredible-yes.

But my point to you all, is that you as parents are sending them to school with a normality instilled in them. A confidence that school is a good place to be. That home is loving, caring and stable and that this time will pass and we will be alright.

A long message to simply say….

Thank you parents and caregivers. Well done

You are doing an amazing job in this crazy time.

The bustle of children charging around and throwing balls at each other ( in a playful way) and their friendly greetings to me tells me a lot about our community.

Kind regards

Scot Kinley
