A Word from the Principal
Kia Ora, Talofa Lava, Welcome.
Its great to see almost all of our students in a position to be able to return to school and get back to some normality.
I asked one of our senior students what they liked most about being back at school and they said their friends and learning. That answer certainly reminded me why we are here ( developing the whole child, head and heart) and encouragedme that the children may be thinking that as well.
We know that this time has been challenging for us all but it has also revealed some things we can improve upon.
We are reflecting on what we do well as a school and what we can adapt, inside the class and around the school.
I hear that many parents like the gate drop off for a variety of reasons.
Irrespective of what we do in the future we plan on continuing the drop off outside the school site for the next two weeks.
If that is causing you great concern please contact the school or fill in the online contact tracing form.
Thank you all again for your patience and support over this time.
You will start to see a lot of projects around the school as part of the School Investment plan.
The Ministry of Education has given the school funding to enhance the grounds and we have many plans to start on.Our Board Of Trustees has also contributed to these projects.
If you have any great ideas on what we can do to improve the grounds and buildings please let me know.
Our first project is a scooter track that will go on the edge of the field by the Pitau block Very Exciting!!!
In other exciting news we are looking to develop our own FOOD BANK. One of our awesome parents suggested that it would be great to build a supply of non perishable food to have ready to distribute whenever we find out that families are in immediate need.
Whilst we have great support from a number of local businesses that we are so grateful for, including0800HUNGRY, Dyers Road Caltex, Lions Foundation and Peter Diver, the idea was that we wanted to give our families the opportunity to give to those in our own community that may be going through hard times.
The concept that you can give to people that you don’t even know and they don’t know you, is very powerful and helps build community.
Please feel no obligation to contribute to the food bank. We will have boxes in each class and the office for a start and also run a mufti day soon to raise some money to start the stock pile.
Lots more to come that I will share but again please, if you have ideas, don’t keep them to yourself.
Have a great week and enjoy the Queens Birthday break , when you are allowed to visit others and not have to stay home.
Regards
Scot Kinley
