A Word from the Principal

Tim Kunowski —

Kia Ora, Talofa Lava, Welcome.

Welcome to the start of another year. It was great to see the children happy and excited to be back after a very long holiday break.

The first day was full of excitement with our first lockdown caused by a dog finding its way onto the field at lunchtime.

At the time I was off site at a meeting with the School’s Board Chairperson, so I received the lockdown alert at the same time you did. I was alarmed at first that it said violence, but was soon relieved to hear the reason being a dog in the grounds.

For lockdown, we get two notification choices as an alert. One is violence, the other is environmental. As per our review, we will try to change the alert to more accurately reflect the actual event so my apologies for any anxiety caused by the violence heading.

Please remember that in a lockdown no parents can come onto site but we will inform you of the situation asap and update you.

Not an ideally calm way to begin the year, particularly for our new children.

Other than that, it has been an amazing first few days.

On a positive note, the bike track is fantastic. Thank you Mrs Baker for championing that. We plan on an official opening of the track for our school community very soon.

I also want to thank you all for the great turn out at our parent teacher goal setting meetings. Your ongoing support is critical at school and so appreciated by all our staff.
