How having a growth mindset helps facilitate learning in maths.

Hannah Steel —

The right kind of environment can transform learners’ attitudes towards learning maths. And in the process, help pupils develop a ‘growth mindset'.

Brooklyn School has been using the term 'growth mindset' for many years now, in all areas of learning. Several school staff were lucky enough to listen to Carol Dweck talk when she was last in Wellington.

Above is a poster to support what to say to support your child in mathematics when they are in a dip or feeling a little unsure of what to try next.

Here is a link to a fabulous article that talks more about both fixed and growth mindset.
