Takahē enjoyed learning about Brooklyn while creating their art creations.

Our section of the art show focused on the theme of ‘Old Brooklyn’. During our term 2 Inquiry, we created poems around our identity and our links to the Brooklyn Community. These involved stanzas around family, first community memories, history, the school and future Brooklyn. We produced a number of art pieces drawing on the techniques of local artists to inspire us. We displayed our completed works and showed our identities through decoration and placement. These showed who we are, where we have come from and how Brooklyn is our home and turangawaewae.

“The art show was a fun display of our art and creativity. It connected me to Old Brooklyn and the themes around this. It changed my view of how I look at the School“- Quincy.

“The art show was really fun. I liked all the art exhibitions and I was surprised that it taught me about where Brooklyn school used to be and how small it was. I liked taking old portrait photos because they were really creative.” - Nina
