Wind - haiku from Tī Kōuka

pauline white —

A haiku is a Japanese form of poetry. It has 3 lines and a syllable pattern of 5, 7, 5. This means choosing words carefully! Here are a few of our wind haiku linked ot the Matariki star of Ururangi.

Howls from tree to tree.

Steals the washing from the line.

Snatches all the leaves.

It’s wild. Powerful.

Destructive, dangerous, cold.

Wind whistles and blows.

Wild wind swaying leaves.

Ferocious wind pushing me

Dangerous. Steals leaves.

I can feel the breeze.

The wind is like a cyclone

It is such a mess.

Powerful wind roars.

Destructive wind snatches leaves.

The noisy wind screams.

Ferocious, cold wind.

Forcing the leaves off the trees

Screaming behind me.
