Turangawaewae Windy Weather Vanes
Read on to find out about our amazing weather vanes
Weather veins are things that are used to know what way the wind is blowing. We were learning about the wind in North Canterbury which relates to our learning of Turangawaewae (where we stand)
We got into groups of up to four people.
This is how we made them first we got a cup and a plate and made a little hole down the middle then we stuck super glue on the plate and put and put the cup on the super glue. Then we made arrows and put them aside. We put a long toothpick threw the little hole in the cup and plate. Then cut up a cup into four bits, put them on the cup, and then stuck arrows on the top of our toothpick.
They are not finished but here is an example!
The students will then be drawing some land features to identify which direction the wind is coming from!
