MY MAGICAL FIELD TRIP TO MARGARET MAHY’S HOUSE

Kimberley Hobson —

Kupa's trip to this famous author's house.

On Wednesday Suzanne, Mrs Wieck, and I went to Lyttleton Harbour at Governors Bay to see the magnificent house of Margaret Mahy the New Zealand author.

When we arrived at the winding driveway, my excitement was building up in my brain.

Was there going to be a view of the harbour and the famous cherry tree, where one of the characters from the “A Tall Long Faced Tale” the witch lived?

Suddenly a Keraro flew and sat in the cherry tree watching us enjoying the exploration and did not leave until we did.

I was amazed by the wonderful house of peace and wonderment and could imagine Margaret Mahy’s writing at her desk and book shelves where she created the writing of the enjoyable books we all can read today.
