Bee Awareness Month
Congratulations Libby Crampton for winning second prize for your bee colouring-in entry at the Amberley Farmer’s Market this weekend.
The judges were impressed by Libby’s creativity and colour contrasts. All of Rimu’s entries are available to view in the Amberley library.
September is Bee Awareness Month. Bees are the tiny superheroes of the insect world.
They keep our planet growing by pollinating native plants, our gardens and our food crops. And they make honey, wax, propolis and royal jelly - all products that humans use.
Bees need our help. They face many challenges: habitat loss, diseases, parasites, pesticide poisoning and the effects of climate change. Rimu are learning about these wonderful little creatures at the moment. We hope to grow some bee-friendly plants around our school.
