Nikau - Writers Block

Upside Down. 250 Word limit, 20mins to write this is what our Writers Block Group came up with!

I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins as I turned and faced the gigantic mountain of dirt.

30 minutes earlier...

I was in the changing rooms putting on my brand new helmet and boots. What I was about to attempt had never been done before. As I put on my googles I heard my phone ring. I looked over and saw it was a text from my friend Toby. There were only two words typed on the screen,

“Don’t die.”

I was finally geared up ready to go when I was told the manager is ready for me. I got my bike and headed toward the track, the stadium was packed with people all chanting my name, JORDAN, JORDAN, JORDAN.

I was excited. If I could master this jump I would be the very first person in the world to conquer a 100-foot jump. The loud cheering of the crowd was defining. Bright lights shone against my back as I started towards the jump in my nice slick CRF - 450. I was thrilled. This is what I’ve trained for my whole life. I revved the engine and raced towards the heap of dirt at top speed. My hands gripped to the handlebars tightly as I elevated my self into the night sky. The noise of the crowd just grew louder and louder. Just then my foot slipped and I started to fall back off my bike. I was plunged into the night sky with nothing to stop me...

As I roll around in my bed I remembered that today is the day when I am going to do a world first. I am now so excited to go to the stadium. so I load my dirt bike up and set off to the stadium.

Suddenly I arrive at the stadium and unload my Kawasaki kx 450 and put my gear on. After I put my gear on I check the fuel in my dirtbike and it is pretty much empty, so I fill it up. Once it’s filled up I get on and start it, hold the clutch in and rip off down the trail to get to the track where I am going to warm up. I decide to have a bit of fun before doing the worlds first backflip grab. Whenever I think about it I get so excited and rev the dirt bike even harder, then I slow down because I don’t want to get hurt before the stunt.

Three hours later its time for me to do my stunt. I rev my bike and shoot off heading straight towards the clay jump.

300 hundred metres left, 200 hundred,100 hundred...

I hit the jump and do a half backflip move my hands into the hand holes and do the trick. Once I do it I think what happens if I don’t land it? My Kawasaki kx 450 would crush me, but I land it and ride off safely. I am so excited that I landed the trick.

As I go up the elevator sweating like crazy needing a nervous pee, I get butterflies in my tummy that this is a bad feeling. I get to the top still sweating like on a hot summers day.

I get told I am going down the jump in fve minutes so I psych myself up to do it, although I am scared. As I look down the ramp I think to myself it's not that steep, even though its a 400m drop with just a hard landing at the bottom. I start to panic, what if I fall off or even stuff the jump up or just let go of my bike in mid-air? What if I kill myself? I get told to get my helmet and gloves on. I'm literally wet like I just jumped in a pool but it's just all my sweat dripping off my making little puddles at my feet.

I'm getting ready as I line up the jump to hit it but already I'm losing grip on my handlebars from sweating to many. My legs start to shake like an earthquake, I think to myself I can't do it I'm to sweaty I'm going to lose grip and fall off but it's too late I'm sitting at the start of a 400m drop just sitting there with death written all over it with the whole crowd looking at me.

As I drop in I pick up speed rapidly as I hit the jump I don't have a good feeling...

As I feel the adrenaline rush go right through my body I get even more nervous, I hear the crowd cheering me on, I go…

1 hour earlier…

As I arrive at the Nitro Circus arena I can already feel the nerves.

“I'm ready to backflip for the first time,” I say to myself.

As I'm in the locker room getting changed and thinking about the trick I hear music, it was the rest of the circus crew pumped for tonight while I'm sitting in the corner thinking about me killing myself doing the jump.

We get called for our intro but thank god you just have to jump over the 30-foot jump and not backflip. Well, not just yet. It makes me even more anxious seeing the BMX, skaters and scooters crash after doing backflips.I feel like I am going to faint.

I say to Tom the leader, "I can't do this anymore, I feel sick"

"That's just normal everybody does," Tom replies.

“Really?”

"Yes” he replies with, "but your up next said tom, "So get your gear on!”

I hear the crowd cheering for me, I feel the adrenaline rush through me like a bulldozer. I go down the 60-foot ramp and the 30-foot gap.BANG! I full headfirst mid flip...
