Koru Games

In the last week of Term 3, Nīkau students participated in the Koru Games. A three day Primary School Sporting Tournament. Read on to find out how they went and to see pictures of them in action!

Last term some students from Nīkau traveled to Selwyn to participate in the Koru Games.There was one netball team and two basketball teams.

On the first day, the netball team and the basketball teams traveled to the Selwyn sport Centre for the Koru Games opening ceremony. Darfield High School stood up and sung a waiata to welcome the 108 schools participating in the koru games. The basketball team stayed at Selwyn and the netball team went to the Lincoln Sports Centre.

The first basketball team and the netball team played 11 games and the second basketball team played 8 games over the three days.The first basketball team came 22nd and the second basketball came 26th.The netball team came 3rd place.

Thank you so much to Anneka, Andrew, Caroline, Michelle, Tracey and Kevin who provided transport and to Will Smallwood and Lucy Cumming for their coaching and reffing of games! We couldn't of attended these games without you!
