Connections and Belonging
Kōwhai tamariki have made a fantastic start to the year - sharing about their holidays, making connections with each other and learning about what belonging looks like and how to work together.
It's been a hive of activity in our 'new' Kōwhai class talking, sharing and writing about our favourite holiday memories. We've loved hearing all about the adventures and whānau time your tamariki had during the holidays - sharing with their peers is a way for us to reconnect and discover something new we didn't know.
Kōwhai have also been making connections by writing about ourselves with numbers - the number of letters in your name, your age, the number people and pets in your family - and discovering who else has four in their family or a cow as a pet! We also created some stunning self portraits which we created with water colours and really highlight our creativity and personality.
Tamariki learnt about what belonging looks like in our class and how we can show kindness to others and work together. Children played lots of fun games with Mrs Gibson which focussed on cooperation and working together as a team. It can be tricky making letters of the alphabet with our bodies, but Kōwhai demonstrated they could problem solve and show belonging with ease.
We welcome all whānau to pop in and see our mahi displayed in our akomanga (classroom).
