Colourful Koru's
Last term Tī Kōuka created koru art inspired by New Zealand artist Raewyn Harris.
Children started by sketching a large “strong” koru to represent the main people in their lives and the little koru being the little people in their whanau. The rest of their art was filled with fern fronds, flax or waves which represent the ever changing journey we are on.
Next children practiced blending pastel colours, mixing light and dark or complementary colours together. We finished our art by dyeing the background a bright colour to make the art stand out. Both Mrs Gibson and myself are super proud of Tī Kōuka's artist efforts and the way children worked together and supported each other.
