NYLD - 2020
National Young Leaders Day
On the 23rd of October, all the Yr8’s went to NYLD which is a place to hear about inspiring leaders. There were four extra tickets so Anzac, Lilly, Joe and I got to go too. NYLD stands for National Young Leaders Day where you get to go as a year 8 to the Horn Castle arena in Christchurch, to hear about leaders, how they became a leader, what they did and how they did it. My highlight was that I actually got to go because I have never gone before and it was a fun experience. I don't have a lowlight because it wasps much fun. We listened to 5 leaders who have done great things for New Zealand and I never knew. Before they left each individual leader gave a quote which will probably help in life later on. Riley Hathaway and Willam Pike gave a quote that was ‘ you need to have the confidence to get far in life’ and it's true because without confidence I wouldn’t have done high jump in practice at school. I would like to go on but I would spoil it for you so let's hang on because your turn to go to the NYLD will come when you are a Year 8. I know it seems a long time but trust me time flies.

I really enjoyed it and I think it was a very good experience and I would love to do it again. I thought Riley Hathaway was amazing, she talked about facing her fears and is really passionate about saving the planet.
