Tena koutou e ngā whānau o te kura.
Good afternoon everyone, I begin the newsletter today by congratulating our senior students from Nīkau class on both their efforts and behaviour on the recent senior camp to Kaikoura. The weather was spectacular and everyone had a great time. Thank you to the parents who donated their time to the camp which made it such a success. Apart from a little sea sickness when kayaking, our students really enjoyed the planned activities. The train journey home was a highlight for many too. Congratulations to Mrs McKenzie who organised this great opportunity/ experience for our tamariki, tino pai!
Yesterday, I joined our Hiking Club on their adventure to Bottle Lake Forest Park. We were met there by Chris a Christchurch City Parks Ranger who educated our children about survival tactics in the forest which included: foods we can and cannot eat and how to build a bivouac shelter. The children broke off into groups and built some pretty impressive shelters which was a big highlight for all! A nui thank you to Mrs Gibson for organising this great learning opportunity.
Tomorrow we look forward to our school Pet Day. The weather forecast is looking good and we have some great activities planned. It will be lovely to see you if you can make it.
Currently, we are in the process of organising classes for 2025. As you may be aware, we are still enrolling new students now which changes numbers for next year across classes etc. As soon as we have completed this I will be sharing the expected class make up/ decision with you.
Next week we look forward to the ‘Small Schools Athletics’ held at Waipara School. Our students have been practicing the various disciplines and are raring to go.
Lastly, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Tanisha and Zhara who have recently joined us from Waipara School. Your lovely enthusiasm for learning with your peers is clearly visible for everyone to see!
Wishing you all a relaxing Amberley Show weekend. Best of luck to all of those who are entering in the various categories.
Ahiahi pai
