Aisling O'Connor — Oct 19, 2020

Broomfield School Enviroleaders participated in the Hurunui Repurpose and Upcycle Expo in the Tin Shed last month.

With wax wraps, worm pee, plant pots and upcycled creations packed into her car Ms O'Connor made her way to the Tin Shed on a sunny Saturday morning to set up Broomfield Enviroschool's stall. Portia, Anzac, Jacob, Maddison, Jessica and Stella helped design our stall which included Matai's upcycled creations. The purpose of this day was to showcase ways to repurpose and reuse materials instead of sending them to landfill. The Broomfield stall attracted a lot of interest as the public strolled past, read our storyboard, had a go on the noughts and crosses and asked questions.

Our Broomfield Enviroleaders had fun making handmade paper, rain sticks out of tubes and paper and even met some new friends. Thanks to the parents who supported the students to attend. The Enviroleaders were blown away by the creativity of the artists, makers and gardeners who displayed their wares. They felt inspired to think Reuse Reduce Upcycle!!
