Wax Wraps in Rimu
Thanks to Serina Linton for coming into Rimu and showing us how to make beeswax wraps. Serina brought fabric scraps, irons, bees wax and tons of enthusiasm! We had a great time.
Last Friday Rimu was buzzing with activity as the smell of hot wax wafted around the classroom. We grated wax, ironed and trimmed and did the wrap dance. We ended up with some lovely home made products. Each Rimu student went home with a beautiful wax to store their kai. Wax wraps are a great eco-friendly alternative to glad wrap. They are plastic-free, non-toxic and will break down in your compost. Best of all they cost little to nothing to make! Thanks to Tracey and Ren who volunteered their time to support the tamariki. You'll be able to see some of our wraps at the Hurunui Repurpose EXPO event on Saturday 27th, held at the Tin Shed in Amberley.
