In Kōwhai tamariki have been showing amazing achievement and creativity in their daily learning, always striving to achieve their best and encouraging their peers. Mr Kemp was so impressed with their learning and art, they won the Values award at our recently assembly.
At assembly Kōwhai shared their colourful creativity influenced by NZ artist Flox, who uses lots of bright colours of flora and fauna. Kōwhai tamariki started their art by dying their backgrounds blue or green and creating leaf prints using stencils. The prints were layered on their art to achieve overlapping and to resemble a rainforest.
Next they learnt how to make toucan and chameleon prints using polystyrene mats and rollers, printed onto coloured paper. Finally their prints were cut and pasted onto their art. To listen to Bill, Evie, Azalea and Freddie sharing the print making process at assembly - see the video link. Flox Art at Assembly video
Kōwhai have also been learning about water safety and improving their swimming skills with Waiswim. It has been fantastic to swim in a bigger and deeper pool for some of our less confident swimmers. Click on the link to see our photos. Waiswim photos
