Meet your B.O.T
My name is Felicity Lang. My husband, Michael, and I live on a farm in the Amberley area. We have been part of the Broomfield School community since 2019, we currently have two children attending Broomfield School, Adele is in Year 5 and George is in Year 3.
Before starting their school journey both children attended Amberley Community Preschool, where I was a member of the board for a period of time. I really enjoyed the experience of being part of the team and giving some of my time back to those who were helping our children learn.
I enjoy being able to help others and giving back to the community that I live in, this has led me to become a volunteer for Fire and Emergency New Zealand, currently a member of the Waipara Brigade, one of the aspects I find really rewarding is being able to deliver the Firewise programme. Which is a programme developed to educate school-aged children about fire safety.
When I get a chance I enjoy being outdoors whether it is in my garden, doing a bit of photography, hunting, fishing or following the children's sports.
Hi, I'm Kevin Spicer, a parent rep on the BOT.
My wife Lize Mari and I have three girls at Broomfield, Scarlett, Zahra, and Nilaa. We originate from the Isle of Man & South Africa and have experienced the schooling system in the Isle of Man, Australia and New Zealand, which offers an alternative insight into education.
In my professional world, I head up a company providing Global Business Transformation, Digital Transformation, Change Management & Strategic Management consultancy services. I have global clients spanning various sectors including Central Government, Regional Government, and numerous clients in the public and private sectors. I bring a wealth of governance experience having headed up substantial change programmes, whilst also bringing a good dose of practical and common-sense skills to the table. My formal qualifications are in Architecture, which will potentially be of benefit as the school continues its re-modelling. All of these skills will hopefully complement those of the other BOT members as we continue to deliver for Broomfield School and the wider community.
I'm looking forward to working with all at Broomfield School.
Hi,
I'm Owen Miller, one of the parent representatives on the Broomfield school, BOT.
I was born in Waikari hospital, raised in Hawarden, and moved the 30km to Amberley in 2016 after a 17 year stop-over in the UK.
While over in the UK, I met and married my wife Liz, went back to high school as a mature student, and in 2013 graduated from medical school in Cornwall.
Our plan had always been to return to North Canterbury, and after our first son Sam was born in 2015, we made the big move. Sam started at Broomfield in Kowhai class at the beginning of 2022 and loves the friendship and direction he is receiving at the school. He now has a younger brother Tom who will eventually follow in his footsteps.
I now work as a doctor with the team at Amberley Medical Centre. Having grown up in a small town like Hawarden, and doing all my schooling at what was Hawarden Area School I understand the importance of community to small schools and the importance those schools have to bringing the community together and giving it a focus.
I look forward to chatting at the school gate (I'll be the one wearing at least one item of orange clothing!), and sharing the upcoming journey with you all.
Cheers,O
Hi, I'm Anneka Cumming,
My husband Paul and I have 3 girls Lucy, Sophie and Millie. We moved to the south island 12 years ago and love it here. Together Paul and I run our company Grout and Rock NZ Ltd which keeps us very busy. In my spare time, I run around chauffeuring my girls to sports and after-school activities. I am also one of the junior coordinators for the Amberley Netball Club.
I am looking forward to my role as treasurer and parent representative for the BOT.
Let's all continue to grow our school together.
Kia ora,
I am Wayne Youle. I was born in Wellington in 74. Moved South nearly 20 Years ago and in that time have had a trio of boys with me partner (and celebrity caretaker). I have had a number of jobs over the years, however, ART is my passion, my distraction... my "job".
I am excited and proud to be a board member at Te Kura Onepunga, I look forward to seeing the school evolve with mana and grow strength in all facets of education, student involvement and individual milestones reached.
