Halfway There!

Kelly Slater-Brown —

“You will either step forward into growth, or you will step backward into safety.” – Abraham Maslow

Kia ora whānau,

I wanted to share this inspiring quote with you as we approach the halfway stage of the year. It serves as a reminder of the importance of embracing new challenges and opportunities for growth, which can be tricky until they become easy.

At our school, we believe in nurturing our student's potential and encouraging them to step out of their 'performance zone' (things which they can already do) and into the 'learning zone'. We strive to create an environment where they can explore, learn, and develop their unique talents.

This term I have watched both staff and students spend time in the 'learning zone'. Whether that be students leading a staff meeting on digital technology, students reading the daily notices over the microphone, students playing rugby at Eden Park, staff learning to use new technology and the list goes on. By spending time in the 'learning zone', these challenges get moved into the 'performance zone' and we are ready to take on the next challenge.

I would like to thank all of the staff for their enthusiasm and hard work, the students who continue to amaze us with what they can do, and you - our supportive community. For those families who provided dinner for the staff last night - the response was, "Just wow! We are so lucky."  Thank you so much.

Have a great holiday.

Kelly
