Ready, steady, GO
On a sunny Friday on the 29th of July, BBPS ran the cross country race. It was the first time in 2 years that BBP hosted a whole school cross country. Some people were nervous whilst others were excited about getting 1st place. As cross country started, many parents arrived and lined up underneath the school rotunda.
All the students were seated on the wooden bench in front of the senior school. As Year 2’s started warming up next to the library, Room 19handed out encouraging signs to the parents. Children ran in gendered year groups. (Year 2 girls, etc.) The juniors ran around the fitness track and court. The rest of the school ran around the block.
Students cheered for runners at the finish line while others started warming up for their race. The first five to cross the finish line received a card, which they took to a temporary table on the Astroturf. After students finished their race, teachers accompanied them back to the wooden bench to rest. As the races came to an end, the children slumped back to their classrooms, exhausted and tired.
The day ended with a buzz of excitement, which I thought was a good mood to end the Friday with.
