It is a legal requirement that children attend school regularly and on time. We expect all children to be onsite and ready for the day at 8.50 am.

If your child is absent, or will be late, please notify the school before 8.50am through one of the options below:

Please include the dates and the reason for their absence.

The Ministry of Education requires schools to mark absences where no reason has been given as "Unjustified".

You are welcome to also let your child's teacher know of any absences, but please ensure that the office is informed through one of the methods above as teachers may also be away or not receive the notice in time.

If a child is sick or has any contagious illness they mustn't attend school. Please follow medical advice of your medical professional to ensure children are past any incubation period.

If a child has an appointment during school hours please contact the office prior to collecting them so we can arrange to have them ready for you.

Please arrange collections before or after morning tea and lunch breaks. It can be very difficult to find children in the playground.

You will need to sign them out from the office and sign them back in on return.

If your child will be absent for 3 days or more for any reason, please notify the office in writing at absences@bbps.school.nz
