Trees for Survival.

Moira Rowlands —

Room 2 giving back to the community

On Friday 17th June Room 2 year 6 went on Trees for the Survival trip to Waiau Pa.

After an hour-long trip and a lot of singing, we finally reached our destination. When we first got there Lindsey the tress for survival briefed us on what we would be doing for the day. She explained to us how Keith and Jenny owned the farm we'd be planting on. then we went to have morning tea. We made sure we had our raincoats because it would rain!

After morning tea we walked down to the place where we would start digging, which was quite a struggle considering how muddy it was. When we got to the digging site Lindsey showed us how to plant the little trees. We had to watch where we were digging so we didn't hit concrete because there used to be a runway in some places under the ground. We finally started to find a place to dig but then it started to rain!

We had been digging for about two and a half hours and it was almost time for a delicious lunch Jenny had been preparing for us. We all walked up together after planting about seven hundred trees. When we got up we washed up and got ready to start eating lunch.

After lunch, we were very lucky to see the animals they were keeping at the farm. There were three horses called Tatoo, Cornel, and Zoomer. Finally, it was time to go head home after a long tiring day of planting so many trees.
