Barbarians Rugby Day May 2022

Getting up bright and early on Sunday 15th May allowed the BBPS Barbarians Rugby Team the opportunity to play three fun games against opposition from across the Auckland unions.

While the event was labelled as a ‘Fun Day’, the intensity in the play was energetic and fast-paced. The newly formed BBPS team incorporated a range of players from years 4 to 6, with some experienced players showing the ropes to the rugby newbies.

With some Auckland Blues mens and womens team players available for autographs, and a bunch of ex-All Black, Auckland and rep players refereeing their games, the team was only slowed down by their added enthusiasm in the free sausage sizzle and Milo giveaway!

Again, our team demonstrated good sportsmanship and resilience playing against schools with greater resources and coaching, while they looked fantastic wearing the new BBPS rugby kit.

A huge thanks goes out to those parents and families who transported their player on the day and offered positive and vocal support from the sidelines.
