Uniform/Dress Policy

Students are expected and encouraged to take pride in their general appearance. All students must wear the school uniform, which enhances school identity, provides good quality economical clothing, and eliminates problems of clothing competitiveness.

All students must wear fluorescent safety vests to and from school.
Make-up, including nail polish, is not permitted.
Ear studs and watches are the only jewellery permitted.
Taonga such as greenstone and bone carvings are permitted on cultural grounds but must be removed for sports and manual lessons for safety reasons.
Pendants may be worn on religious grounds but must be removed for sports and manual lessons for safety reasons.
Children are asked to bring a change of clothing for sporting activities, e.g., winter sports/athletics.
Hair that is longer than shoulder length should be tied back. Hair should be in natural colours, and no hats are to be worn inside.
Footwear must be suitable for school, i.e., no jandals, scuffs, crocs, slip-ons, jellies, platforms, pulps, street or skate shoes. Suitable footwear includes neutral coloured cross trainers or sandals, and/or black shoes. Plain navy or white ankle or below the knee socks are acceptable to wear with shoes.

The school accepts that on occasions named clothing goes missing and parents are required to inform the classroom teacher in writing. If an item remains lost it must be replaced in four weeks.

At the discretion of the teachers and the Board the consequences of breaching the dress code begin with the teacher speaking to the student about the breach. Parents/caregivers will receive written notification of the breach.
