Ngā Manu Tiori a Tū - Te Reo Reo Māori

E kōkō te tūī, E ketekete te kākā, E kūkū te kererū | The tui chatters, the kākā cackles, the kererū coos

At Te Kura o Tiori Burnham School, we honour Te Reo Māori as a taonga and are proud to provide a pathway for whānau who wish for their child to be educated in te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga. The teaching and learning are guided by Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and our locally developed Te Reo Māori Poutama.

Ākonga engages in a fun oracy-based language program (listening and speaking before reading and writing). All key concepts are taught in English, then overlaid in Māori. There is a strong focus on the hapu of the area, Ngāi Te Ruahikihiki with dialect and kawa being guided by Te Taumutu Rūnanga.
