Mac Attack: Year 11 Geography Research
A key focus in the Year 11 Geography programme during Term One has been developing skills in the research process.
Students' main research aims were to compare the strengths and weaknesses between two potential retail sites for a new Macdonalds' restaurant in the location of north west Christchurch. A key requirement was for students to collect primary data in the field. We visited the local Airport Mcdonalds' to start planning the research methods and to consider the key characteristics for potential data collection. Examples included favourable site features such as good visibility, dual access, controlled access, potential clients and long term sustainability. As a bonus, students took the opportunity to sample the cuisine on offer!
Many thanks to the staff who helped out on each class excursion.
