Golf
Our Mixed Team is again the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Teams Champion for 2019, and they also achieved an amazing 2nd place finish at the NZ Secondary Schools' Teams Final in Cromwell during Winter Tournament Week.
Congratulations to our Mixed Team members:
Hayato Miya, Yuki Miya, Amy Weng and Jasmine Clancy
who won the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Stroke Play Championships at the Christchurch Golf Club (Shirley) on 04 March. This meant automatic qualification to the NZ Secondary Schools' Teams Golf Final, this year held at the Cromwell Golf Club, on Monday 02 September. We also had two other students competing as individuals at the Canterbury Champs - Mark Chang and Joshua van Dalsum
In Cromwell, after 36 holes, our Mixed Team placed 2nd, with Macleans College from Auckland winning the NZ title again this year. We are fortunate that we have a young team, so the four players will be back again next year!
Thanks to the Mixed Team parents who organised their own children to be in Cromwell for the NZ Schools Final on the Monday of Winter Tournament Week, and from the Wednesday to Saturday that week the students all played in the NZ Age Grade Champs at the same course and achieved the following results:
Hayato Miya - Mens U17 - 2nd place
Yuki Miya - Mens U15 - 4th place
Amy Weng - Womens U17 - 17th place
Jasmine Clancy - Womens U15 - 14th place
Hayato was a finalist in the 'Sportsman of the Year' category at this year's Sports Awards, and the 'Mixed Golf Team' were finalists in the Team of the Year category.
Eagles Golfing:
Congratulations to Hayato and Amy, who both won NZ Eagles Under 17 National Boys and Girls titles in October, after a 54 hole gross score each. See photos below.
