Road Safety

Andrea Griffin —

Travel safety on the roads around Burnside High School

There are key times of the day where there is a large flow of students and traffic around Greers Road and Memorial Avenue.

There have been a number of near misses and we would like to ensure safe travel of students to and from the school site.

Please try to avoid driving into the entrance off Greers Road to drop off or pick up your child.  This can cause huge congestion.  The students can walk the short distance into or from the school gates to a place further down the road.

Students need to use the crossings rather than run across the road in front of cars.  This is particularly important if students are dropped off and picked up on Memorial Avenue.  Please encourage your child to walk to the crossings and not run or walk over the four lane avenue.

Please encourage your child to walk or cycle to school.  This is better for them and better for the environment.

We wish to keep our students safe and we will be reminding them of road safety in upcoming assemblies.
