Year 13 Change Maker Leadership Day for female leaders
Are you an Owl, Eagle, Dove, or Peacock? On the 18th of May, four of our Year 13 leaders had the opportunity to attend the Change Maker Leadership Day for female leaders to find out their individual leadership style.
Gabrielle Hampton, Vicky Wijaya, Sandra Muteswa, and Danielle Wray were joined by other female leaders from schools across Canterbury. We started by learning about the importance of emotional intelligence when leading a team, whilst being open to the four different personality types of our team members: owl, eagle, dove, or peacock. We nurtured our different leadership styles, gained self and social awareness and, to end the day, we heard about mechanisms we can use for balancing our lives inside and outside school.
This day was precious to the four of us and we were taught insightful lessons we will remember and draw on in life beyond school. On top of that, we were privileged to collaborate with like-minded girls in similar positions (over some delicious kai!). It was refreshing to find commonality between schools.
Thank you to Marina Shearer, Christine Mutch, and Amira Aman from Thrive For Life for the lifelong lessons you taught us, and to Rabobank who sponsored this day.
