It was a bit of a disjointed start to the 2022/23 season for the 28 strong rowing squad.  The departure of Christina Blackford and Zac Murphy as coaches after the 2021/22 season left a large hole in the Rowing programme.  Just in the nick of time, Molly Meates and Rob Meates (niece and uncle) came on board and the season was able to get underway as scheduled.

Despite the rushed beginning to the season the squad had a successful season, with the squad achieving 58 A Finals and 108 personal bests over six regattas. The best placed crew was the Girls U16 Coxed Quad at the Otago Champs (Silver Medal).  While the crew would have liked the opportunity to stand on the podium more often, the large number of personal bests is an indication of just how hard the rowers trained and the progress they made this season.

Unfortunately Covid started to make itself felt again towards the end of the season and not all the squad were able to attend the NZSS Championships or Maadi Cup as it is more commonly known.
