Sports Update - Term 2, Week 6

Sports Office —

Congratulations to all our students who have been competing at the Southern Cross Country Championships, NZSS Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships and the National Age Group Swimming Championships, all held over the past couple of weeks.

Well done to the following students who achieved some amazing results at these events.

National Age Group Swimming Championships

Soeren Wells (9WPPK) - 13 Year Old Boys

National Champion (1st) - 200m, 400m, 800m, & 1500m Freestyle 2nd - 100m Freestyle3rd - 50m Freestyle

Soeren established new 13 Year Old Boy Canterbury Long Course records for the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m & 1500m Free style. The 400m record had been held for 34 years!

The week after the NZ Aged Group Championship Soeren also set the new 13 years old boys Canterbury short course record for both the 200m and the 800m Freestyle events.


Hamish Giddens (11NCTM) - 15 Year Old Boys

2nd in the 400m Individual Medley, 200m Backstroke, 1500m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle & 800m Freestyle events.


New Zealand Secondary Schools Rhythmic Gymnastic Championships

Elle Ilkiw (13SRT) - 2nd place; Level 10

Earlier in the year, Elle also gained 3rd place at the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Champs Rhythmic Gymnastics event, in Level 10.


Southern Cross Country Championships

Ben Lough 9SOSC - 1st Year 9 Boys Race.

U16 Boys team (Olly Upjohn 10NSMG, Shannon Rochester 10NYSA & Jake Boswell 11WJCC) - 3rd U16 Boys Team Race

Senior Boys Team (Beck Faloon-Cavander 12SKNG, Daniel Lough 12SBYS & James Anderson 13SRT) - 3rd Senior Boys Team Race.
