Aurora Voices

Johanna Robson —

Aurora Voices is Burnside High School's auditioned junior treble voice choir, consisting of about 40 students from years 9 and 10.

This year, they have been involved in many performances and events and have achieved success in a number of areas.

In June, Aurora Voices competed in the regional Big Sing competition, held at the town hall. They came away very successful, winning the award for "Best Junior Choir" out of all choirs from across Canterbury that were involved that evening. At the end of June, Aurora Voices was also involved with the North West Festival, and sang alongside various primary school choirs in the area over two nights.

Aurora Voices also performed in the Burnside Voices concert in August and the Burnside Choral Extravaganza in October, both of which were really enjoyable and a big success. In November they performed as guests in the Christchurch Chinese Festival, and to finish off the year they sang in the Burnside Junior Showcase.

This year for Aurora Voices has been very enjoyable - a huge thank you to our wonderful conductor Sue Densem for everything she does for the choir.
