Planning for Covid-19 Alert Level 3

Burnside High School —

Yesterday the Government decided that we will move into Alert Level 3 on 28 April. That means we will be open to receive students from the 29 April. We are starting to prepare our site this week.

Dear parents/caregivers,

The key message for you is that if you can, you should keep your child at home. You should only physically send your child to school if you need to. If your child has a health condition that means they are at a greater risk of a severe illness you must keep them at home. If your child is sick please also ensure you keep them at home.

In order to ensure the safety of those children and our staff who do come to school, we will be operating with strict enforcement of health and safety measures.

In order to plan for the move to Covid-19 Alert Level 3 we need to have an indication of which students will need to be supervised at school.

This applies only to Year 9 and 10 students, students in Years 11-13 are expected to be at home during Alert Level 3. School will be open to those students who need to attend, due to their parents’ work, or due to access to online learning.

Learning during Alert Level 3 will still be delivered online to all students. Students in Years 9 and 10, who are able to, should remain home. If this is not possible and supervision for your child is needed at school please indicate below. ONLY COMPLETE THIS FORM IF YOU NEED YOUR CHILD TO BE SUPERVISED AT SCHOOL.

Students will be in 'bubbles' of 10, they will not be able to mix between bubbles throughout the day, and the school day will be different from our regular timetable with adjusted start and finish times. Students will be expected to be in full school uniform.

Please complete this form by Thursday 23 April, 9am. We are using this information to arrange staffing and will not be able to accept students to school without this prior indication of students who will be attending.

In order to protect the health and safety of our students and staff we will only have enough staff on site to cater for supervision of students so it is important that if you cannot keep your child at home under Covid-19 Alert Level 3 you respond to this Google Form.

I want to assure you that we will continue to support your child’s learning at home.
