Burnside Students excel in Canterbury Mathematics Competitions.

Two mathematics trophies have returned to Burnside High School.

For Year 11 students, the Canterbury Mathematics Competition run a Year 11 Calculator Competition. Eighteen teams competed from a wide range of Christchurch schools and there was a lot of fun and mathematics with some top young mathematicians.

Burnside A were First: 

The team was George Wilkins 11NPRA Benjamin Wray 11WCRA  Rachel McGowan 11SGCT and Josh Anderson 11SGCT.

Rangi Ruru were a close second

Burnside B were a close Third: 

The team was Jayden Zheng 11SORL  Eric Li 11NSMG  Jasper Guo 11NKTA and Hyacinth Peng 11NSMG.

For Year 10 students the Premier competition is the Year 10 Cantamath Competition with around 60 teams competing from throughout Canterbury.

In Year 10 we were first and third!!!

This is an outstanding result.

In First place with a perfect score of 100 were Leon Wu 10NHLC Jeremy Gao 10NJVC Miles McGrath 10NJVC and Iris Zhang 10NJVC.

In Third place also with a perfect score of 100 were Melissa Irvine 10WCRB Alvin Ting 10WCRB Jonathan Zhou 10WCRB and Samuel Tao 10WCRB.

Our three Year 9 teams demonstrated that they are ready to carry on these great results all finishing in the top group in the competition.
