Showquest 2021

Charlotte Ensor —

On May 18th Burnside High School competed in the annual Showquest at the Christchurch Town Hall.

This year's performance revolved around the theme of fast-fashion and it's detrimental impact on the environment, economies, work ethics, and wasteful shopping habits. A theme that resonates with today's audience, it seemed to resonate with the judges as they awarded it FIRST PLACE with a special extra award for Best Drama.

It was a long, busy day and evening and every one of our 113 students behaved well and showed lots of mana for our school and our performance.

Congratulations to the following student leaders that worked tirelessly to make this happen: Harriet Dodd, Simone Blakie, Shauna Boerboom, Will Moor, Sophie Olliver, Olivia Maye, Alyssa Tabley, Lily Reed, Lily Burt, Earl Jr Segua, Maia Jefferson, Camille Lambert, Taylah Peek, Sienna Odams, Molly Brown, Jungmin Jo, Holly Brixton, Millie Lamond Aird, Caitlin McGregor, Sophie Bates, Nicole Moore, Jayden Upston, Felix Halford.

Many thanks to the staff involved: Kate Olliver, Katerina Papageorgiou, Serena Gold, Mary Hegarty, Megan Queerie and Alan Robertson, with special thanks to Richard Wiltshire for his help with lights, sets and props, and to Tracy Brown for her immense help on the day.
