Time to thank our wonderful Year 13s for their work this year.

Jon Land —

The environment Group will be sad to see our dedicated Year 13 students leave us next term.

Many of the students in Year 13 have worked with us, in the Environment Group, since they arrived at Burnside in 2018. They  have seen Te Uru, our Burnside forest, develop and they were the students who initiated our Jellie Park plantings. They are students who have shared their skills with our juniors and put thousands of hours of work into the school's environmental projects.

We hope they will take their passion with them into tertiary education and beyond. People who grumble about the 'youth of today' really should come out and meet the wonderful students who work week after week rain or shine to provide a beautiful natural environment for our local community. They are rewarded with Burnside Service Hours and many will have gain Gold and Platinum awards that will be awarded at Graduation in Term 4. We hope that many of them will return to visit us and that they enjoy the forests they have planted for many years to come.
