Acting Principal's Report

Andrea Griffin —

The end of this Term is the end of my tenure as Acting Principal.

On 17th July we will welcome Scott Haines at a Mihi Whakatau. We are looking forward to having Scott Haines on board and have been meeting and slowly transitioning him into our school.

As with any organisation, it is the people that make Burnside High School such a great place. I am privileged to work with staff who work hard for the education of our students. In all of my time in education, the team of staff here are above compare. They are professional, dedicated, collaborative and solutions focussed.

I would like to thank Alan Robertson for stepping up into the Acting Associate Principal Role and Rebecca O’Loughlin for her skills as Acting Deputy Principal. I would also like to thank Sally-Ann Goodman, Suzanne Baldwin, Darryn Findlay, Tom Music, Marinda Van Vuuren and Fiona Hamilton for their support and extra work that comes with three ‘Acting-up’ positions and transitioning a new member of the team.

We acknowledge it has been a difficult term with PPTA industrial action and are hopeful that arbitration will lead to a resolution. Our teachers do a very important job, not only in the classroom but with extra-curricular activities which help provide young people with avenues to develop themselves.

I hope that you get some family time and rest during the upcoming student break and Matariki celebrations. I want to thank all of you for your support of me during my time as Acting Principal.

Ngā mihi

Andrea Griffin
