In week nine of this term Year 11 Geography students went to Waimairi Cemetery to explore the life expectancy of people born in the 1800’s.
This was part of a mini-inquiry into comparing life expectancy now with the past. Students walked down to the cemetery and completed their data tables during period five. As an outcome of this trip students have gained a greater awareness of the challenges that lie ahead as the world’s population ages. Students have been exploring what social and economic problems this contemporary issue is creating.
