This year Futsal was played in Terms 1 and 4, on Wednesdays after school, at various schools and venues around Christchurch.

In both these terms, we entered three Junior Boys teams and one Senior Girls team. In Term 1, we were fortunate to have the help of the school’s Youth Workers to help supervise some of the junior boys’ teams each week, so thanks to Jack and Nate for helping out!

Our Senior Girls team from Term 4 are training over the summer and are keen to compete in the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Championships usually held late February, and then onto the NZ Secondary Schools’ Championships which are held in Wellington each year during Summer Tournament Week (19-20 March). They have Charlotte Merkin as their coach, and Mrs Prosser (PE Teacher) as their Manager, so organisation for these tournaments is well underway.

Futsal continues to be a popular summer sport at Burnside High and is run by Mainland Football.
