Dance NZ Made Nationals

Talia Ellis —

While the trip was not the most plain sailing trip that’s for sure, we all had LOTS of laughs and only the occasional cry.

Results are as follows:

Gold - Amelia Nicholls Year 9 solo
Gold - Amelia Nicholls and Dylan O’Keefe Year 9/10 duo
Bronze - Sienna Odams and Kaia Turner Open Duo
Gold - Molly Brown Year 12 solo
Bronze - Jungmin Jo Year 13 solo
Gold - ’Lullaby’ Year 9/10 team
Silver - ’Winter Morning’ Open team

Molly Brown was the overall highest scoring soloist of the competition and is therefore the DNZM National Champion...and won a trip to LA!!!!
‘Winter morning’ Open team received 1st runner up National Champion Team with our friends at Rangitoto College and a lovely cash cheque to add to the collection.
The ’Art of movement’ trophy for Artistic excellence at DNZM also went to ‘Winter morning’

Special thanks has to go to ALL our students for their stunning performances over the weekend and resilience through tricky situations. They are some of the most talented individuals, special humans and all round coolest kids.

Another special special thanks has to go to our wonderful parents who helped out, Trudy Brown and Nikki Nicholls. This weekend was not possible without their support, rescues, problem solving, kind words and calm demeanours. We are so lucky here at Burnside to have a beautiful community of parents! The amount of encouraging messages from supportive parents we received over the weekend was heartwarming to say the least and kept us going.
