Year 13 Change Maker Leadership Day for female leaders

Sally-Ann Goodman —

Owl, Eagle, Dove, or Peacock?

On the 18th of May, some of our Year 13s had the opportunity to attend the Change Maker Leadership Day for female leaders.

Gabrielle Hampton, Vicky Wijaya, Sandra Muteswa, and Danielle Wray were joined by other female leaders from schools across Canterbury. We started with learning about the importance of emotional intelligence when leading whilst being open to the four different personality types of your team which were owl, eagle, dove, or peacock. We nurtured our different leadership styles, gained self and social awareness and to end the day we heard about mechanisms we can use for balancing our lives inside and outside school.

This day was precious to the four of us and we were taught insightful lessons we were taught will be remembered. On top of that, we were also privileged to collaborate with like-minded girls in similar positions (over some delicious kai!) which was refreshing to find commonality between schools.

Thank you to Marina Shearer, Christine Mutch, and Amira Aman from Thrive For Life for the lifelong lessons you taught us, and to Rabobank who sponsored this day.
