Technical Crew

Matt Graham —

This year, the Tech Crew has been involved with many events, which in comparison to the past couple of years is a major improvement.

I’m sure all of the crew enjoyed the extra experience. From operating bands and ambience performances in the quad to assemblies and formally run school events, we’ve been able to keep our hands busy and from my point of view, that’s an absolute win.

One of the largest internal events we helped with would have to have been Year 12 Drama’s The Oscars performance assessment. Not only was it a great stagecraft experience for the newer crew still learning the ropes, but we were able to give the Year 12 Drama classes the platforms they needed to complete the Achievement Standard. This event was also kind of nostalgic for both Felix and myself as back in 2018 when The Oscars was last run, we were both part of the new Year 9 crew still learning the way.

Excitingly, as Covid begins to let up and the people feel safer returning to see shows and events, I’m confident that the crew will have many more opportunities to involve themselves in the school happenings, though I’m sure Felix, Braden, Sam and myself are going to miss not being there to see it.

All of us in the Crew would like to thank Richard Wiltshire for being the guiding light these past few years. Not only is he a fantastic mentor and operations manager, but he’s a great friend and I’m confident that without his influence Tech Crew would not be the fulfilling experience it is today.
