Congratulations to E Wen Wong (12 WTAW) for being selected as part of a four-person team to represent New Zealand at the 17th International Geography Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey from 11 - 17 August, 2020.

On 19th October, eight students from around New Zealand traveled to Wellington to take part in the International Geography Olympiad selection day for the 2020 national team . These students were selected as the best entries from the New Zealand Board of Geography Teachers' nationwide competition for Year 12 Geography students held earlier this year.

The team travelling to this prestigious global competition in Turkey  will be:

Jacob Collie - King’s High School, Dunedin

Samuel Landers - Hawera High School, Hawera

Sophie Ogden - Wentworth College, Auckland

E Wen Wong - Burnside High School, Christchurch

The team will be accompanied by two Team Leaders: Amanda Brown - Sacred Heart Girls’ College, New Plymouth and  Nick Page - Otumoetai College, Tauranga.

The iGeo consists of three parts: a written test, a multimedia test and a substantial field work exercise. The competition also includes scientific poster presentations by teams, cultural exchanges, and time for students to get to know their fellow students and explore the host city.

Best wishes for your preparation E Wen!
