TRACK CYCLING SUCCESS

Mr McBrearty —

Great result for Sami Donnelly (12WRIS)and the NZ Womens Team Pursuit team won Silver at the Junior World Track Cycling Champs in Switzerland.

They beat Australia in the semi final, going significantly quicker than they had in qualifying yesterday. The NZ team was beaten by Italy in the final, but still a wonderful achievement by Sami and the team.  Sami has worked extremely hard to get to this level and it is of huge credit to her, especially given that she is a 16 year old completing against 18 year old cyclists.

The NZ Mens team went one better, winning Gold by beating France in the final.

In addition to Sami's success, Erin Downie (12WRIS) has been selected to represent New Zealand at the Oceania Track Cycling Championships in Adelaide this October. Wonderful reward for Erin and we look forward to following her progress in these championships.
